Senior Reactor Operator/Reactor Operator (SMR)
Holtec International and its subsidiary companies are designing an unfailingly safe and secure source of clean energy using nuclear fission, called the SMR-300 small modular reactor. The position is offered by SMR LLC as a member of the Holtec International family, a global turnkey supplier of equipment and systems for nuclear, solar, geothermal, and fossil power generation sectors of the energy industry.
Are you interested in working with an innovative project on a first-of-a-kind reactor design? SMR-300 is a small modular reactor based on PWR technology. The SMR-300 project provides an exciting opportunity to work alongside innovative engineers focused on developing the next generation light water reactor to be deployed around the world.
The reactor operator will assist system design engineers, I&C engineers, mechanical and simulator engineers in the development of SMR-300 systems. The reactor operator brings valuable operability insight to the project to ensure appropriate functionality is achieved for systems. The reactor operator will also assist human factors engineering (HFE) and human-machine interface (HMIs) teams with the development of the plant and engineering simulators.
Specific Areas of Responsibility:
- Review system documentation including P&ID and design descriptions
- Provide operability review for systems specifically during off-normal conditions
- Define system and component maintenance requirements and approaches
- Assist system engineers in developing equipment specifications for safety valves, pressure-reducing valves, etc.
- Review engineering simulator results and assist engineers in troubleshooting simulator challenges
- Assist and review HMIs and provide operator insight
- Assist in developing refueling sequences and ensure systems can accommodate shutdown and refueling operations
- Assist engineers in developing a radwaste management plan and develop equipment design requirements to handle solid radwaste operations
- Assist mechanical engineers with defueling and refueling sequences and review mechanical drawings to ensure operability during the refueling process
- Support development of Safety Analysis Report contents and regulatory interactions
