Position: 2025 Summer Intern – Industrial Safety
Location: Palisades Energy
Dates/ Duration: Summer 2025 (approx. May - September)
Holtec Palisades seeks a highly motivated Summer Intern for Palisades Restart Project with the company’s Industrial Safety department located at Palisades Nuclear Power Plant in Covert, MI.
Palisades is positioned to become the first nuclear power plant in the United States to restart after previously entering the early stages of decommissioning. By joining our team, you will be part of a unique and historic undertaking for the nuclear industry and the nation!
In order to be considered, candidates must be actively enrolled in a college or university. Pay will be determined based on years completed.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support in Industrial Safety training needs, contract support, budget preparation, and oversight for departmental corrective action, training, and work activities.
- Contribute to an environment of continuous improvement in Industrial Safety with a heavy emphasis on worker behavior.
- Gather and trend industrial safety data, make recommendations and develop corrective actions to improve industrial safety performance.
- Gather, formulate, and distribute relevant and required safety KPIs at the request of the leadership team.
- Lead by example while professionally implementing OSHA/ MiOSHA and Holtec safety policies.
- Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) or related field.
- In good academic standing, with a GPA of at least 3.0.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team setting.
- Well organized and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional and appropriate attitude, appearance, interpersonal skills, and work ethic.
Desirable Additional Qualifications:
- Knowledge of OSHA/ MiOSHA General Industry and Construction regulations and how they apply to a power generation facility.
- Industrial Hygiene practices that anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and recommend controls for environmental and physical hazards that can affect the health and well-being of workers, including asbestos, lead, chromium, nuisance dust, mold, noise, light, temperatures, etc.
- Knowledge of Industrial Hygiene sampling equipment and OSHA and NiOSH sampling protocols.
- Knowledge of Microsoft suite of office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.
