Position: Procurement Specialist
Location: Camden, NJ – Nuclear Power Division
Holtec International seeks highly organized and detail-oriented Procurement Specialists to support its Procurement Group. The Procurement Specialist will assist in the coordination and oversight of supplier management, contract negotiations, and material acquisition to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement aligned with project and organizational goals. This position plays a critical role in connecting strategic procurement planning with day-to-day purchasing execution, working closely with Production, Legal, and Project Management teams.
The ideal candidate will possess strong negotiation skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive mindset to drive supplier performance, foster competitive sourcing, and manage procurement risks. A successful Procurement Specialist will be capable of evaluating technical specifications, maintaining vendor relationships, budgeting purchases, and supporting the full procurement lifecycle from requisition to delivery.
Minimum required qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related discipline or 10+ years of procurement experience with a focus on contract negotiation and supply agreements. Demonstrated knowledge of purchasing practices, supply chain management, and contract law applicable to procurement. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage internal and external stakeholders. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word. Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings. Proven presentation skills and experience managing cross-functional team initiatives. Strong project management skills, with the ability to define milestones and adhere to deadlines.
Additional desirable qualifications: Experience developing and managing large RFPs. Background in the steel market and direct procurement from steel mills is a plus. Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement software. Experience supporting strategy development and implementation in a team environment.
Specific Areas of Responsibility: Ensure strict compliance with the Procurement Policy and applicable Procedures. Self-manage workload and collaborate with peers and project leads to support customer project requirements. Evaluate supplier performance and identify contract changes, root causes of issues, and transition plans in collaboration with the Procurement Manager. Support the development, rollout, and monitoring of procurement strategies, policies, and continuous improvement initiatives. Foster supplier competition, manage procurement risks, and pursue cost-saving opportunities across the enterprise. Develop and maintain relationships with qualified and reputable suppliers and expand the supplier base through market research. Receive, analyze, and process material and service requests; issue purchase orders as needed. Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions, and engage Legal as necessary to manage risk exposure. Monitor and manage order fulfillment to meet production schedules and inventory requirements. Track and complete procurement transactions, including status reporting, documentation accuracy, and resolution of non-conformances. Assist with documentation, reporting, and coordination of corrective and preventive actions. Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned in support of operations and procurement objectives.
