Holtec Palisades seeks qualified applicants for the position of NDE Specialist III in its Engineering department based at Palisades Nuclear Power Plant in Covert, MI.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Serves as the primary NDE contact for the assigned site, providing technical expertise on techniques and applications. Oversees planning and execution of NDE activities during outages, and supports site personnel during outages or high-scope projects. Manages non-outage NDE work, prioritizes technician and scheduler tasks to meet key milestones, and coordinates with vendors to ensure proper staffing and scope clarity. Conducts emergent NDE as needed, and is responsible for training, qualification, certification, and review of NDE procedures and personnel.
 
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Project manages outage preparation and execution for site NDE scopes.
  • Performs non-outage NDE and oversight.
  • Leverages technology improvements across NDE organization.
  • Provides contractor control and oversight.
  • Provides training, qualification, certification, and procedure development. 
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum experience required of the position.
Minimum 8 years’ experience in ISI/NDE. Desired: Strong working knowledge in construction and in-service codes beyond the aspects of NDE.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position.
  • Must have the skills and ability to meet the qualification requirements set forth in the applicable codes and standards and possess or be able to obtain Level III certifications (if achieved, specify Level of qualification for qualified NDE methods including current PDI qualifications) in accordance with applicable plant procedures.
  • Ability to use computer scheduling programs and be familiar with the tools and equipment.
  • Be able to perform inspections, examinations and tests in accordance with fleet procedures and work packages including natural or corrected near distance visual acuity of Snellen fraction 20/25 or better in at least one eye, uncorrected or corrected and ability to differentiate contrast between colors used in the NDE methods.
  • Have knowledge and skills to maintain the ISI/NDE database and nuclear plant scheduling programs.
  • Knowledge of other NDE methods such as RT/UT/ET.
  • Have knowledge and skills to monitor outage schedule and make any necessary changes/updates as an outage progresses.
  • Be able to support on-line and outage NDE planning by providing technical details for NDE implementation and ensures schedule reflects available NDE resources.
  • Have the ability to resolve field implementation issues to keep NDE work on schedule.

Any certificates, licenses, etc., required for the position
  • Certifiable NDE Level III (ASNT/CP-189) multiple methods and special qualifications such as EPRI, PDI, QDA, or LPA analysts.
