Holtec International, a growing and diverse technology company primarily focused on energy solutions in the nuclear industry, is seeking applicants for a Business Development Engineer position in its corporate technology center located in Camden, NJ. The Business Development Engineer must be a self-motivated team player who is eager to help grow Holtec’s business footprint around the globe. The individual must have excellent written and oral communication skills, be able to meet deadlines, and work well under pressure. 
The individual will function in a support role for the international team of business development department. The individual must be able to understand and interpret technical requirements, provide technical information verbally and in written form, communicate with the internal engineering team and develop relationships with potential clients within the nuclear industry. The Business Development Engineer job duties include but are not limited to the following activities:

  • Assist or lead (under circumstance) the International Business Development team by providing technical and commercial information to potential customers verbally and in written form.
  • Interpret customer needs, assess requirements, and identify solutions.
  • Develop relationships by communicating with current and potential customers.
  • Manage the entire proposal development lifecycle.
  • Navigate activities prior to Requests for Proposal or Quotations (RFP/RFQ) are released (i.e., engage technical disciplines, create templates, compile draft responses, etc.).
  • Draft win-themes, proposal strategy approaches, and review Q&A results.
  • Generate proposal response calendars including milestone dates, review meetings, proposal development, and final proposal submission.
  • Perform RFP reviews, breakdowns, analyses. Present on opportunities and create specific internal assignments.
  • Create writing outlines to ensure compliant and comprehensive proposal responses.
  • Manage internal proposal section development with subject matter experts.
  • Develop compliant, customized, comprehensive, and responsive technical proposals reflecting customer-specific themes.
  • Participate in strategy, status, and review meetings.
  • Write original text/tables and proof, edit, and re-write all sections and documents as needed to ensure accuracy, consistency of message, and RFP compliance.
  • Update job knowledge by studying new product descriptions; participating in educational opportunities.
All candidates must possess the following:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from a well-recognized university. Candidates without an engineering degree must demonstrate equivalent technical experience.
  • 1-10 year(s) of prior business development or engineering experience is preferred. The rank of the position will be determined based on candidate’s prior experience and capability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical and commercial concepts.
  • Ability to complete assigned work on or ahead of scheduled deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and complete work in a timely fashion with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to pay close attention to the most minute details and generate error-free documents.
  • Ability to assess level of effort required and work within budget and schedule.
  • An aptitude for effective technical and commercial writing.
  • A proactive problem-solver with a high-quality work ethic who asks questions, makes recommendations, and takes responsibility for his/her performance.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe.
  • Ability to travel to attend conferences, pre-bid meetings, and customer meetings approximately 10% of the time.
  • Ability to obtain unescorted access to nuclear power plants.
  • Business development experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Nuclear or other Energy industry experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Language skill in Japanese, Korean, or others, is preferred, but not required.
